On the crafty front, I finally tackled the zipper using this tutorial to make a pouch. I did not use a zipper foot because my hello kitty sewing machine doesn't have one. But it turned out alright!

It looks very cute. I don't have a zipper foot on my HK machine either and it seems to work fine. I didn't even know a zipper foot existed.

okay that does it. I just might need to break down and buy myself a Hello Kitty sewing machine. I want to learn how to sew pillows. Not sure I can tackle the zipper quiet yet, but surely I could start at pillow cases.
