New year, New Banner

Happy New Year! Kicking off the year by changing up my blog banner. These new colors and textures are the kind of style I'm striving for lately. Doesn't seem to match the rest of my blog right now but it feels like the right direction!

I'm chiming in, too - I love the colors and the composition. It makes me wonder what the story is (isn't that what we all strive for?) Very nice work!

I love the banner and I really like the post on your reflection of 2009...I agree with the "spreading yourself too thin" part! It is easy to do!

This banner is so great. Love the textures and the super cute animals. You style still screams with this new direction! Nice job.
How did you create your textures? Did you bring your file into Photoshop? I am trying to create textures in Illustrator without much luck.
Happy 2010!

Thank you everyone!

Deborah-yes, I have to go back and forth and bring in some Photoshop. But my main file is still Illustrator. Still experimenting, trying to get a good process down.

Wonderful. Love the added shading-- really adds to your style without taking away your unique "look." Hope 2010 is off to a great start for you.

Cool!! A shiny new banner!! nice perspective... I laughed my butt off when I saw the little chicken all bundeled up hahaha! Mostly cause I have real chickens and for a split second I pictured myself carrying one around like that lol!

Nice Illustration! I love the colors and the characters....you have to keep us updated on this story. Will the bear take care of the chicken? How did the chicken get wrapped up in a papoose? Why is the snowman missing arms? Did the bear steal the chicken from the snowman and discard his arms? Fill us in...hahaha.

Jannie - this is really, really nice. I mean it. Having read your "reflections of 2009" post, I can see that you are intent on getting your illustration style out there and this is so charming, and rich. I think it's a fantastic banner. Thank you for your candid, informative posts and always for your kind visits.

You just seem to have a great knack for color composition and all...this is beautiful, very different than your usual, but wonderful! Good work!
