A Beachy Chicken Wedding

Last week will be forever in my heart. Starting with a trip to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, where Math boy and I married in a private ceremony at Magens Bay Beach between two palm trees. It was peaceful and serene, with only the minister and a photographer present. It was unfussy, focusing on what really matters... everything I wanted it to be.

We stayed at the Bellavista Bed and Breakfast in St Thomas. (hello, Wendy!!!) I wanted give this place a mention since Wendy the owner is a wonderful lady who took incredible care of us the whole time we were there. Highly recommended!

We came back to NYC for a reception to celebrate with friends and family....and the theme for the party? Chickens, of course! And the star of the show:
My chicken wedding cake!!! Made by my incredibly talented mother-in-law!!! I couldn't have dreamed of a better cake!!! It was so personalized (she based the chickens off of my illustrations) and I had no idea what it looked like till the reception. I was completely floored.
I'm not the type of girl who thought about their wedding day since they were little. But this chicken cake is definitely a dream come true. Words can't really express how much I appreciate the time, energy and love that was spent making it. Thank you, my new MIL!!!

Prezzies!

I've been getting so many lovely gifties...thanks to Ellen Crimi-Trent for sending me one of her fabulous chickies for my Christmas Chicken Tree. Woohoo! Check out her tree full of them! I love it, Ellen- thank you for being so thoughtful and thinking of me :-)

Chicken....I mean, Christmas...Tree

Its been very busy here but I managed to get a mini Christmas tree and put up the few ornaments that I have....yes, thats right- chicken ornaments. Friends always manage to get me all chicken things- and ornaments are no exception!

I hope I'll post some more before the holidays. I want to thank you Edrian Thomidis for giving me an Uber Amazing blog award and Vela over at Little Star Soup for tagging me. I've been meaning to use the tag to do a favorite podcasts list....hopefully I'll get to that soon. In the meanwhile, keep warm :-)

More Goodies!

I know its been over two weeks since I've posted anything! Lots to post about, but I'm trying to stay off the computer and enjoy the summer while I can.

Well, I've got more goodies in the mail! These cute chicken card holders are from fellow illustrator Kristin Sorra. I first met Kristin at the Highlights illustrators' party last year. She is super talented and I'm so happy to have met her and her hushand, who is also an artist. They are so nice and super cool. Thank you for letting me adopt them. I'll take good care of them :-)

Math Boy thought they looked like chicken bumper cars?!? So funny!

Chicken Stampin'

A deliciously wrapped surprise package came to me last week from fellow illustrator and blog friend Andi Butler...its a chicken rubber stamp! You ROCK, Mrs. B!!! She also included a CD with some hilarious chicken songs and clucking sounds, it really made my day. Rooster Math Boy and I were dancing around the living room listening to it. Thank you for your thoughtfulness.

I can see how rubber stamps are quite popular these days, I see people at various blogs are making their own. So fun!

Its never enough

More chicken goodness! If you can believe it, this chicken toy set is about 1 inch in height. I found these at the Japanese grocery store, from one of those mystery toy boxes:

There are 1o sets you can get, but you dont know which one is inside the box. I've been wanting this chicken set (#7) for a while now, and I finally got it the other week! I was jumping up and down like a child, but I was so excited!

I need these things as an illustrator for inspiration, right? Right?

Chicken Collection , part 1 of many

Yes, I have a sickness, maybe its the chicken flu? I finally got around to taking some pictures of my chicken collection. This is only a small part of it, unfortunately. Haha! Many are given to me by friends and family.

There are many more chicken things. More soon. In the meanwhile, did you know a Chicken Boy exists!? Check out his collection!
