Thoughts on The Creative Genius

Alicia posted a wonderful video of writer Elizabeth Gilbert and her thoughts on creativity. I'm a big fan of her book, Eat Pray Love. I highly recommend watching it for inspiration here (thanks, Alicia, for the great post!)

Making a Living as an Artist

I'm enjoying this post over at Lilla Rogers studio on "Can Artists make a Living?"

"I did it because I wanted it more than anything in the world and was willing to do whatever it took to make a living entirely as an artist."

Yup. Two cluck clucks from me.

Ready or Not, Here I Come

I'm off to the SCBWI conference tomorrow with my little red portfolio. I'll be sure to come back with all the details!

Sending some love to Mike R. Baker and Holly DeWolf who gave me the You Make My Day Award, too! I'm so honored. Thanks, guys! I need to update my blogroll with some great blog friends, stay tuned!

Learning Flash update: thank you for those who left me some great links to look through. Video tutorials are a gzillion times better than learning from the book. I haven't touched it much this week, but I am keeping up with the reading and watching the tutorials. Yeah!

Moo!

I finally got a pro account over at Flickr and got some free Moo mini cards along with it! (Terrible photo though, struggling with my camera at the moment.)

Some link back love:
-Pingable.org mentioned this blog as one of 12 well designed blogspot blogs. Whoh, thank you!
-Over at DaniDraws.com, I was listed as one of the sketchblogs that people might enjoy. Thanks! (P.S.- be sure to check out this post that Dani wrote about drawing children, something I still struggle with)

And did you know, there is a Mr. Chicken (Monsieur Poulet) in the blog world? And he's an artist too!

New art for Promotional postcard

I am about due to send out another promotional postcard. Here is a new piece of art I just finished for it. What do you think? I am trying to keep up a regular schedule with sending stuff to keep my name out there...my goal is to at least send something out three times a year.

Speaking of promotion, I wanted to mention a few blogs that I've been checking out thats helpful:
The Marketing Mix- I've been enjoying the small bites of info and tips there....very easy read and not overwhelming. I've picked up some great ideas there.

Living the Creative Dream- a great inspirational site with everything from creativity to promotion by the super-talented Holli.
