Moving Postcard-1st Attempt

Trying to get back in the swing of things with an attempt to come up with a moving announcement postcard. I'm finding that I'm struggling a little bit, did I leave my muse behind? This is my first attempt- fun to post here but I don't like it enough to use as a postcard. Back to the drawing board.

Fun things I'm enjoying:
*Fellow illustrator Gina Perry with a pic of her baby Miles reading The Haunted Ghoul Bus! Totally adorable facial expression while flipping through the book! Its priceless to me, thanks, Gina!

*Recently found this awesome blog about children's book design and illustration:
The Apple and the Egg

Cluck cluck!

Cute! I love it. Although at this point it should probably say "We have moved". Hope you're settling in nicely. You feel so far away!

nice card! That cloud that touches the tree might be a bit lighter, then it would stand out from the sky a little more. Just a thought.

Hey, I saw your Penguin book in a bookstore here in Nashville yesterday... cool! : )

Too cool! I just wonder how you convinced a monster to carry your house to it's new location? You must have great networking skills.

Your card is loads of fun. Nicely done!

Great card! It's nice to meet another illustrator! You use a lot more color than I do (I specialize in pen and ink) but I love your monster! Feel free to stop by my site and see my newest illustration. Oh, and don't forget to enter my giveaway!

this is adorable and I love the moving monster, because moving really is like hanging out with a monster, but yours is so cute, I think I could have fun moving if he was around!!

I'm curious like the others as to why you are not happy with it. I noticed your colors are a bit different than your usual, but in a good way. I agree with most...it is a darn cute monster and an original idea.
Hope you are all out of boxes now...

It is so cute. I agree though. You usually have more "easter eggs" in your illustrations. Thanks for the link to the apple and the egg.

Hi Jannie,

I love the giant monster moving the house, so cute! How are you enjoying the Ann Arbor country life? :-) Are you picking your own fruit and making preserves yet? It will happen to you, even if you're a New Yorker. I moved there after having lived Chicago, Paris, etc. never thought I'd become a country girl :-)

Sooah- omg!!! You are right! For some reason I've become a little bit more "domesticated" lol. I'm really enjoying the farmers market and cooking more. Next thing I know, I might just be making my own preserves:-) you must tell me some of your favorite spots in A2!
